Adrian King

Adrian began woodturning in 1991 on retirement from teaching. He likes to experiment in the use of colour and unusual finishes, using a combination of contrasting timbers and inlays of wood and metal within his work. Architecture, sculpture and the natural world are sources of inspiration for his designs. The Spalted Beech Sculpture depicted below was inspired by the work of sculptor Barbara Hepworth.

Adrian has exhibited in various craft shows, the International Woodwork Exhibition at Ascot and regularly in the National Touring Exhibition of the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain. He exhibited four years consecutively at the biennial A.W.G.B. International Seminars and each time, one of his pieces was selected as part of “the best 50”, for inclusion in the national slide collection and DVD of the A.W.G.B.
