Dominic O’Callaghan
Dominic was born in 1969 in Bromley, Kent. Since early childhood, his fascination with wildlife has been expressed through his art.
Having studied at Blackheath School of Art, Dominic went on to complete a three year
HND in Natural History Illustration at the University of Sunderland. Dominic’s inspiration
was then fuelled by a trip to the rainforests of Borneo where he spent time with
Orangutans and subsequently caught the travel bug. Since then he has travelled widely
but his most notable experience was an opportunity to accompany a wildlife film-
Dominic works in a variety of mediums but prefers pencil, which enables him to create pieces with extraordinary detail.
Endangered species is a subject close to Dominic’s heart and as a fellow of the Zoological Society of London, he hopes to use his art to raise funds for wildlife and habitat conservation. He exhibits regularly with various wildlife art societies and has achieved many awards.
